WHO ARE WE?

The Lab is a dynamic and inclusive dance training company dedicated to providing high-quality instruction and opportunity to dance enthusiasts. It fosters a welcoming environment for all individuals, underrepresented and low-income backgrounds, primarily targeting participants aged 10 - 15 In our Junior company and 16+ in our Senior company. However, applicants outside of this age range within reason may also be considered based on the strength of their application. The Lab is committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that everyone has access to top-tier dance training, regardless of their background.

The Lab operates on a yearly basis, with training sessions held once a month. At the six-month mark, a filmed dance concept will be produced, showcasing the progress of the participants. The year culminates in an end-of-year showcase, where students present their rehearsed works, highlighting the skills they’ve honed throughout their time at The Lab. This event also serves as a memorable send-off for graduating students, providing them with a show-stopping goodbye.

Students at The Lab receive workshops from industry professionals who offer tailored artistic support through a variety of  styles such as Krump, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Commercial, and more. In addition to dance training, workshops led by influential industry unions, wellbeing coaches and onsite therapists services will be provided. These sessions aim to increase awareness of artists' rights, requirements, and overall well-being.

The Lab's training days are designed to enhance and elevate the confidence and skill sets of dancers at all levels, including entry-level participants. The compnay encourages a safe environment where students can flourish, mastering the art of dance and movement. The Lab also promotes inquisition, artistic experimentation, creative workshops, and self-awareness, equipping students with the tools for a successful and sustainable journey upon graduation.

As a team of seasoned professional dancers and tutors, we recognize the lack of safe spaces and the misrepresentation of diverse cultural influences in the dance world, particularly for individuals aged 12-20. We understand the critical importance of diversity in education and the need for inclusive learning environments. The Lab provides a safe space for necessary discussions through the language of dance, addressing these issues head-on.

The Lab will be a life-altering community for many young people, as we believe that community is the foundation of success and together, we are making strides towards a better tomorrow.
